Newborn Information

Baby Comfort and Sleeping Positions

Do not overdress your baby. A good thing to remember is that the baby is comfortable in the same amount of clothing as yourself. Avoid drafts or direct sunlight. Even a small baby can be taken for a stroller ride if care is taken to dress him or her according to the weather. Try to avoid taking your newborn into areas where large groups of people will be present. This is especially important during winter months when illness is more prevalent.

Sleeping Positions

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that infants be placed on their back when being put down to sleep rather than on their stomach. If your child has trouble sleeping on their back discuss with the primary care physician. The infants bed should not include any loose bedding, stuffed animals, pillows or bumpers.
